About Me

I’m Dr. Corey Gilbert

Over the last 26+ years, I’ve devoted my life to counseling, coaching, & teaching individuals, couples, and families struggling with past abuse, difficult marriages, and family dynamics. I specialize in the areas of trauma, adultery, struggles with sex, sexuality, and gender identity. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (in Oregon and Ohio) with a PhD in Family Psychology, I’ve seen hundreds of people break free from the limiting beliefs that hold them back. How? By learning to be a guide and letting God do the transforming. My desire is to see those I serve be transformed by the power of Jesus in their lives. I see the process of counseling and coaching as "discipleship." I’ve seen people stop constantly questioning who they are and instead get excited about where they’re going. And most importantly to me, I’ve seen people freed from their past hurts and start enjoying life. I want the same for you.

Today, I am the Founder and CEO of The HealingLives Center, a two-time author, and sought-after speaker. Every day I work passionately to support and coach individuals of all walks of life to overcome their pain, understand who they are, and even see the value in their suffering.

What is the difference in the Approach of the HealingLives Center?

Most counselors and coaches meet with their clients weekly for a long period of time. Dr. Corey Gilbert does not. He offers intensives and longer sessions that are focused on what happens between sessions. He offers an online portal with hours of homework and training to help you succeed quickly. Whether it is coaching or an online Course - Dr. Gilbert's goal is life change as quickly as possible. His longer sessions and focus on the time between sessions has a lot higher success rate than weekly 50 minute sessions.

How do the Online Courses work?

Access the course immediately and work through the material at your own pace. Feel free to book a Free Consult with Dr Gilbert if you have questions or need anything else. We can then determine on that call or Zoom call if more time together is necessary.

How many people have gone through these Online Courses or used your services?

Hundreds of guinea pigs (college students) have shown me the power of “education” about trauma and how this is key to change - not the therapy part - especially years of it.

I have 23+ years of experience as a therapist and counselor and have discovered putting education first - as a key. Most do not need therapy.

It is a beautiful sight to behold. Since discovering this with my college students - at the undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral levels - Dr. Gilbert has seen hundreds of men, women, couples, and families find themselves for the first time in their adult life.

Dr. Gilbert works with teens and preteens as well. He tends to partner with the WHOLE family. His primary focus is working through gender confusion and anxieties.

Is there any level of human interaction or is it all digital and automated?

Both. We will adventure together. I am your guide. You will navigate through the teaching in the portal and meet often with me to discuss your story and the impact of the new learning. We will ALSO be meeting weekly in a live Zoom call with a select few from the program. These will be recorded weekly for those that cannot be present and will include a teaching time and then live consultation for teaching purposes. I am honored to navigate through this incredible life changing time with you

What is the length of time most people work with Dr. Gilbert?

Most spend 6 months or less. When working with Trauma, it can last longer. When working through addictions and also affairs - it can take longer. But it is rare. The goal is that Dr Gilbert is not a crutch, rather a resource, teacher, ally, life-journeyer, and guide. He helps his clients orient, re-orient, and stay on course towards their goals.

What are Dr. Gilbert's areas of Specialization?

Dr. Gilbert works with individuals, couples and families helping them navigate struggles with gender confusion, attraction questions and struggles, and infidelity.

He works with many individually through trauma pasts that are hurting them today and even haunting them.

He also is a Christian Sex Therapist trained by the Institute for Sexual Wholeness specializing in teaching and training a biblical worldview on sexuality and gender.

Dr. Gilbert sees his work as discipleship. He walks alongside those hurting and helps them move toward health, growth, strength and a stronger sense of identity.

You can do it. This resource is meant to be handed off to your son or daughter, for them to read, and each chapter ends with a set of discussion questions and room for them to write and think about what they believe - all focused on what God’s Word designed for us to live optimally.
What age is too young to begin these conversations?”

Most of us do not have a problem with this. We are usually too late. So begin a few years before you think you should - preparing them - having micro-conversations - engaging in dialogue that is tough.
How can I NOT have to have these hard conversations about sexuality and gender with my kids?

You can (1) leave it up to their peers, pornography and the school system. OR You can (2) trust me to guide them well with a resource that is founded and guide by Scripture and intends to build up and strengthen a Biblical Sexual Ethic. Partner with me.
